Dear bread friends,
What a year 2022 has been! And today is the last day of my crowdfunding campaign for my new book Such Good Bread.
I’m so happy to tell you that 853 people from all over the world have contributed over the last month and have made the crowdfunding a success!!! 💗💗💗
*This is amazing news, but I have even more special news for you, so make sure you read till the end!!*
To everyone who has supported the project so far and made my dream a reality, thank you, you have made 2022 such a special year!! Your support means so much and I’m so excited to share this new book with you!
But: because it is not clear yet how many extra copies of Such Good Bread I’ll be able to print, today might be your last chance to get your hands on a copy.
If you are thinking of getting a copy of Such Good Bread, please take part in the campaign today. It ends at midnight, Adelaide time (which is ahead of the time in most other parts of the world) - There’s less than 12 hours to go!
Exactly 1 year ago today was my first ever appearance on live TV - setting me up for an amazing year in 2022. I remember New Years Day and just thinking ‘I wonder what this year will bring!’ It has brought me so much - a lot of joy, thanks so the kindness and support of the online baking community. If it weren’t for you, my life would be completely different, thank you for allowing me to do what I love, for watching my little videos and to everyone who took the leap and baked their very first sourdough loaf - congrats to you, no matter how it turned out! I hope you keep on baking and baking because it can only get better!
Finally… my special news!!
Some of you may have picked up from my IG stories and the lack of videos I’ve been sharing that something is going on, and you’re right.
And as life goes, things are often bittersweet. Often something really bad happens and somehow it’s met by something really good.
Over the last month I’ve been spending as much time with my family as I can and doing all I can to help them and it’s taking up a lot of my time, leaving me a lot less time to bake and/or share about baking. I had so many things planned that I was going to share with you, new recipes, so many unedited videos, but times like this change your perspective about what’s most important.
I’m not quite ready to go into the details of it all, I will at some stage, because I think there’s a lot of value in shared experiences. But for now, an unhappy situation in my family has led to something really beautiful:
I got married on Christmas Eve. The wedding was put together at very short notice, with this little line from a song my dad wrote in mind:
“The best time is now for the precious things.”
It was a very small ceremony in our backyard. Of course I filmed EVERYTHING, including the last minute set up of the entire thing and I can’t wait to put that together into a little video to share with you soon! I’m excited to share this with you on my newsletter first, before anyone else knows :))) I hope it makes you feel special!! :)
Relatedly, my new year’s resolution(s) are: to say no sometimes in order to have enough time for the things that are most important, and to do those important things, with the people I love now and not delay / avoid / put off anything!
I hope you have a beautiful holiday season that brings you joy (even it it’s bittersweet). And I hope you can give yourself a little bit of a rest, because I know you need it.
See you in 2023!
Love,
Mary Grace
